UCAS applications deadline
Future medics, dentists and vets encouraged to submit their UCAS applicationsThe first UCAS deadline of the academic year is nearly here – and it’s crucial for anyone applying for a degree in medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine/science. It’s also the key date for applying to any course at the universities of Oxford or Cambridge.Anyone wanting to study one of these courses beginning in autumn 2014 needs to make sure their application is completed and submitted to UCAS by midnight on Tuesday 15 October 2013.This year, the deadline falls in the government’s Make Your Future Happen: Discover Higher Education week, a national campaign running between 12 and 18 October to increase awareness of the value of higher education.Steve Jeffree, UCAS Chief Operating Officer, said: “A degree is one of the best routes to a rewarding career and students also need a real passion for their subject to succeed. A strong UCAS application, submitted before the deadline, is the first step on the journey.“It’s important that students research the courses that interest them thoroughly so they can put together the best application possible.“Make sure that you leave plenty of time too. Students applying through their school will have their application checked by their teacher, who’ll also write a reference – and all this needs to be done before the midnight deadline.”UCAS’s award winning advisers are on Twitter (@ucas_online) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/ucasonline) ready to answer any questions about the application process. The application deadline for other courses and universities is Wednesday 15 January 2014, although some art and design courses (check on the UCAS search tool) ask for applications to be in by Monday 24 March 2014.Applications received by these deadlines are guaranteed to be considered by the relevant universities and colleges.
