The list of employers recruiting at the event reflects the fact that several major sectors of the engineering industry continue to expand. They include aerospace, environment, energy and electronics.
The exhibition also offers many valuable services to help visitors to develop their careers and gain advice on their job search. Experts within the Careers Advice Lounge will offer personalised advice on all aspects of finding the perfect job and how to promote yourself to prospective employers, and one-to-one consultations at the CV Clinic will give top tips on perfecting a CV. In addition, free half-hour group sessions within the Interview Clinic will give visitors individual and practical advice on how to approach an interview and invaluable tips on how to demonstrate the qualities recruiters are looking for.
There are also a wide variety of free presentations throughout both days of the exhibition, offering invaluable careers advice and information on opportunities at the UK’s leading engineering and construction companies. They provide advice on interview preparation, effective interview skills, selling yourself, how the application process works for recruiters, what the company culture is like and how to get your CV to the top of the pile!
New at the exhibition is the Engineering Council’s Professional Development Hub. In this area visitors can meet representatives from more than ten leading professional institutions** for advice on their professional development, and to discuss what membership of an institution involves. This is open to all visitors, from graduates to experienced skilled professionals.
The Women in Engineering Forum, supported by the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET (science, engineering and technology), will be taking place at the NECR on 26 November 2010. Offering women at all stages of their career the chance to share experiences, make new contacts, and hear about exciting new vacancies, the Women in Engineering Forum provides an invaluable networking opportunity.
For final-year university students, University Challenge gives teams across the country the chance to compete against each other to design, build and test their inventions in a challenging task to win a prize of £750***. Watching the teams in action is both educational and entertaining! To enter a team please email email@example.com or call 020 8394 5206.
