Maersk Training, based in Newcastle are currently recruiting for 2 Apprentices to join the team in November 2013 as part of their current expansion plan.  The 2 new roles within the company are Customer Service Apprentice and Office Administration Apprentice, created due to increased industry demand for their range of Maritime and Offshore Wind training courses.
 
The Customer Service Apprentice will support the day-to-day running of the office with tasks including handling enquiries and bookings from new and existing clients, providing quotes for training courses and providing support for the smooth running of all courses.
 
The Office Administration Apprentice will be the main point of contact on Reception, answer the telephone, meet and greet clients, alongside playing a key part in ensuring a positive client experience in relation to the administration of registrations of customers.

Research has revealed that young people who want to develop a career should look to employers who operate planes, trains and buses as this industry seeks to recruit 182,500 people by 2020. The good news comes from a research report by sector skills council People 1st, which highlights that growth in the aviation, bus and coach, rail, taxi and private hire, and travel industries is creating a record number of jobs for school leavers and graduates. Brian Wisdom, chief executive at People 1st, said that people entering the industry in the next eight years will have will have the potential to build strong careers that offer great learning opportunities and excellent salary prospects. “The average salary of a person working in the passenger transport and travel sector is £35,661, with some jobs earning an average of £79,471. Future medics, dentists and vets encouraged to submit their UCAS applicationsThe first UCAS deadline of the academic year is nearly here – and it’s crucial for anyone applying for a degree in medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine/science. It’s also the key date for applying to any course at the universities of Oxford or Cambridge.Anyone wanting to study one of these courses beginning in autumn 2014 needs to make sure their application is completed and submitted to UCAS by midnight on Tuesday 15 October 2013.This year, the deadline falls in the government’s Make Your Future Happen: Discover Higher Education week, a national campaign running between 12 and 18 October to increase awareness of the value of higher education.Steve Jeffree, UCAS Chief Operating Officer, said: “A degree is one of the best routes to a rewarding career and students also need a real passion for their subject to succeed.
